“I feel like for the first time in my life I understand food and how to nourish your body. I understand better how much weight is not an indicator of your health, and to stop obsessing. Also, that food is not a “reward,” as that will set you up for failure. I still struggle with insecurities, mainly about my stomach. I thought that after sticking to my macros and calories and exercising I would have lost more weight, especially in my stomach. I am trying to accept that I have gained muscle, and that I still have a long journey ahead of me. I feel like I have gotten healthy eating down, but still struggle with motivation to exercise regularly. That being said, this is the first program I’ve ever used that emphasized the feeling of health and nourishing your body, rather than just weight loss. I would recommend it to anyone starting out on this journey of body love and acceptance. I can’t thank you enough.” |
“This challenge was exactly what I needed in my life to help me take control of my health and learn new ways to take my fitness to the next level. I’ve always loved the bar method, but Leslie’s nutrition guidance was the missing puzzle piece in finding a balance between mental and physical strength. Not only was I able to lose some pesky pounds and inches, but I was also able to learn lifelong skills to eating right and feeling strong and energized. I have incorporated “progress not perfection” into my daily psyche, and I have learned that everyday is a new opportunity to become a better version of myself. I learned that I am stronger than I ever knew I was, and I am able to do whatever I put my mind to. Even on days I lacked motivation, the support of Leslie and the bar method team provided me encouragement and inspiraiton to persevere. I am so grateful that I took this challenge!” |
“I was pleasantly surprised by how “easy” it was for me to stick with my meal plan. I noticed right away that I felt full and satisfied and thus had less and less cravings for all those carbs I normally desire. In the times that I did have a little indulgence, I didn’t like the way I felt–proof in the pudding that good foods are our fuel! Additionally, I have had more energy (I’m a chronically tired full time working mom of 3!) and have felt stronger in classes. I think I have stayed in thigh work without coming out more in the last 4 weeks than in the nearly 4 years I have been coming to Bar Method!!” |
“I am learning shredding fat is a long process and that eating well and exercising is not a temporary. During the challenge I focused on how I felt when I consumed foods that weren’t as good for me as fruits and veggies. This made it easier to avoid unhealthy food, but I don’t feel as guilty now if I plan those slip ups with my macros!” |
“My journey was not so much focused on weight loss, but more making this a new lifestyle mindset. I did the challenge a few years ago and felt like I didn’t have a good plan in place for after the challenge. This time I started really looking at the tools you provided and finding the best way to fit them into my lifestyle. Also, progressnotperfection is my new life motto 🙂 I am using it at work and really trying to focus on just doing what I can when I can. Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement, you, Kate and Lizzy have all been amazing!”
“I wanted to drop a note of thanks to you. I honestly thought it was impossible for me to lose weight and change my body shape, but now I know it is possible! I am energized to keep working on it!” “Now i’m glad I got the pictures! Just getting these done was a major challenge for me, but it really does show me things I can’t see otherwise. I just started doing Bar Method in August so for me, I wasn’t quite up to doing it 4 times per week (I tried it one week and it just felt like too much for me). I will get there but for now I have been doing cardio on the non-bar days. Your meal plan is awesome and just being conscious of my portion sizes has changed my life! Saying nice things to myself constantly and especially in the mirror is also a new thing I’ve learned from taking classes and this challenge. I know I didn’t say much on the Facebook page but your kind words really mean so much. I spent a lot of years being very down on myself but I feel like this challenge was a turning point for me You have been a huge blessing in my life and I am very grateful to you. You are doing a great work. Thank you, Leslie. “ |
“I was super excited about the changes in my waist and the fact that I achieved 16 classes.” |
“I really liked in the first survey that you asked how committed I am to this. I wrote 10 even though I didn’t feel like I was ready for that. But, throughout the challenge I reminded myself of this.
I was really surprised at how easy this was. People always complain about how hard dieting is. But, I didn’t have that problem. As long as I’m not hungry, I’m happy, to be honest. With someone helping guide my eating, I had few struggles. I loved the meal plan and I loved slowly working away from it. Meal plans are so easy for me because they mean I don’t have to think about feeding myself 🙂 I also really liked having the Facebook group and getting to read other people’s stories/share my own and cheer others on and be cheered. I love that sort of camaraderie. Leslie and Kate were awesome as well with their suggestions and encouragement. They were great support to have! Thank you! I really learned a lot about eating and how to understand all the hidden things that can be found in food. I think I’ve made some healthy substitutes that I can stick with going forward and I hope that I can keep some semblance of these eating habits going through the end of the year!” |
“I have such a better relationship with food and have conquered my all or nothing thought process. Progress not perfection was so powerful for me. Committing to this and being successful is such a wonderful feeling. I feel so much better about myself and have overcome so much emotional eating.” |
“I was able to do all the pushups (on my knees), take less breaks during thigh, and more often hold the plank the whole time in class!” |
“I think everything about the challenge was positive for me. Learning about the number of calories I should take in everyday and also learning about macros, which I didn’t know anything about at the beginning of the challenge. I learned that there is a lot more to eating right than just cutting back on calorie intake. I will be able to take this information with me going forward and make better choices in regards to what I eat. I also want to thank Leslie and Kate for being so supportive, positive and helpful during the challenge.” |
“During the challenge I really did start to feel stronger and I felt really good about myself! I still have work todo to reach my goals but I still saw great changes. My bloating dropped and I dropped a pant size!!! Ah-mazing” |
“Going to 4 classes consistently really started to show more muscle definition and improved flexibility, I would like to try to maintain the 4 classes a week as much as possible!” |
